Introduction
Second John is a brief letter addressed to the elect lady and her children. This may refer to a Christian woman and her household or to a church and its members. The elder rejoices in their faithfulness and urges them to continue in truth and love.
Christian love includes obedience and discernment. The letter warns against teachers who deny Jesus Christ’s coming in the flesh and instructs believers not to provide hospitality or encouragement that supports their false teaching.
