Mark 1:1-8 Baptism and Temptation of Jesus – Jesus is baptized by John in the Jordan, and as He emerges, the Holy Spirit de- scends like a dove, and a voice from heaven declares, "You are My beloved Son." Mark 1:9-13 Jesus Begins His Ministry – Following John the Baptists ar- rest, Jesus begins preaching the gospel of the Kingdom of God in Galilee, calling people to repent and believe. He calls His first disciples—Simon (Peter), Andrew, James, and John—who immediately leave their nets to follow Him. Mark 1:14-20 Jesus' Teachings and Miracles – Jesus teaches with au- thority, casts out demons, heals the sick and disabled, and performs many miracles. His fame spreads as He demon- strates His divine power, challenges religious leaders, and re- veals His identity as the Messiah. Mark 1:21-9:50
Jesus’ Journey to Jerusalem – As Jesus travels toward Jerusalem, He continues teaching, performing miracles, and in- structing His disciples. He predicts His death and resurrection, em- phasizing servanthood and sacrifice as the path to greatness in God’s Kingdom. Along the way, He heals blind Bartimaeus, who calls out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Mark 10:1-52 Jesus' Crucifixion (Mark 14:1-15:47) – This section recounts Jesus’ final week in Jerusalem, including the Last Supper, where He institutes the Lord’s Supper, His betrayal by Judas, arrest, trial before the Sanhedrin and Pilate, crucifixion, and burial in Joseph of Arimathea’s tomb. Mark 14:1-15:47 Resurrection of Jesus – On the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome go to Jesus’ tomb but find it empty. An angel tells them that Jesus has risen and instructs them to tell the disciples. Mark 16:1-8 Appearances of the Resurrected Jesus and the Great Commission The risen Jesus appears to Mary Magdalene, two dis- ciples on the road, and later to the Eleven, rebuking their unbelief. He gives them the Great Commission, commanding them to preach the gospel to all creation. The Gospel concludes with Jesus' ascension into heaven and the disciples preaching everywhere with signs and miracles confirming the Word. Mark 16:9-20
