1. Dedication : Luke dedicates his gospel account to Theophilus, expressing his intent to write an accu- rate, orderly, and thorough account of the events ful- filled among them. This is intended to provide certainty about the things Theophilus has been taught. - Luke 1:1-4 2. Birth Narratives : Luke details the miraculous births of John the Baptist and Jesus Christ. Angel Gabriel announces John’s birth to Zechariah and Jesus’ birth to Mary. Mary visits Elizabeth, leading to prophetic praises. The narratives highlight their births, Zechariah’s prophecy, the angelic message to the shepherds, and Jesus’ early life, including His dedication at the tem- ple and His wisdom at age twelve, revealing God’s di- vine plan. Luke 1:5-2:52 3. Ministry of John the Baptist : Luke describes John the Baptist’s ministry of repentance and baptism, pre- paring the way for the Lord. This is followed by Jesus’ baptism, marking the start of His ministry, and His genealogy, highlighting both His humanity and divine lineage. The section ends with Jesus’ temptation in the wilder- ness, where He triumphs over Satan’s tests. Luke 3:1-4:13
4. Jesus' Ministry in Galilee : During His ministry in Galilee, Jesus teaches in synagogues, performs numerous miracles, and calls His disciples to follow Him. His miracles demonstrate both His divine authority and His compassion for people’s physical and spiritual needs, revealing His mis- sion to proclaim the Kingdom of God. Luke 4:14-9:50 5. Journey to Jerusalem Jesus resolutely sets His face to- ward Jerusalem, teaching and performing miracles along the way. His teachings during this journey offer deep in- sights into discipleship, the cost of following Him, and the nature of the Kingdom of God. Luke 9:5119:44 6. Teaching in Jerusalem : Jesus teaches in the temple in Jerusalem, confronting religious leaders and challenging their understanding and practices. He also delivers prophetic teachings about the future, including the destruc- tion of Jerusalem and the signs of the end times. Luke 19:45-21:38 7. Jesus' Death and Burial : Luke recounts the events of Jesus' passion, including the Last Supper, His betrayal by Judas, His arrest, trial, crucifixion, death, and burial. Throughout these events, Jesus’ humility, compassion, and submission to the Father’s will are powerfully highlighted. Luke 22:1-23:56 8. Resurrection and Ascension : Women discover Jesus' empty tomb and encounter angels who announce His res- urrection. The risen Jesus appears to His disciples, explains the Scriptures, commissions them to preach repentance and forgiveness of sins, and finally ascends into heaven. Luke 24:1-53:
1 Driving Out an Impure Spirit : In the synagogue at Capernaum, Jesus commands an impure spirit to leave a man. The demon immediately obeys, demonstrating Jesus’ authority over evil, which amazes the people and spreads His fame throughout the region. Luke 4:31-37 2. Healing of Simon's Mother-in-Law – Jesus heals Simon Peter’s mother-in-law, who was suffering from a high fever, by standing over her and rebuking the fever. She recovers immedi- ately and begins to serve them, showcasing His authority not only over spirits but also over sickness. Luke 4:38-39 3. Healing Many Sick & Oppressed at Evening : At sunset, people brought many who were sick or oppressed by demons to Jesus. He healed the sick and cast out the demons, commanding them not to speak because they knew He was the Christ, demon- strating both His compassion and divine authority. Luke 4:40-41 4. Healing a Leper : Jesus heals a man full of leprosy by touch- ing him and declaring, “I will: be thou clean.” The man is imme- diately healed. Jesus instructs him to show himself to the priest and offer the prescribed sacrifice according to Moses’ law, as a testimony to others. Luke 5:12-16 5. Healing a Paralytic : Jesus heals a paralytic man who was lowered through the roof by his friends. Jesus forgives his sins, which causes a controversy among the Pharisees and teachers of the law, and then heals his physical condition, proving His au- thority to forgive sins. Luke 5:17-26 6. Healing a Man with a Withered Hand – In the synagogue on the Sabbath, Jesus heals a man with a withered right hand, challenging the Pharisees’ strict interpretation of Sabbath laws. By asking whether it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath, He re- veals the heart of the law. This miracle leads to increased hostil- ity from the religious leaders, who begin to plot against Him. Luke 6:6-11 7. Healing a Centurion's Servant : A Roman centurion’s highly valued servant is healed by Jesus from a distance after the cen- turion demonstrates remarkable faith in Jesus’ authority. Believing that Jesus only needed to speak the word for healing to occur, the centurion’s faith amazes Jesus, who praises it as greater than any found in Israel. Luke 7:1-10 8. Raising of the Widow's Son at Nain : Jesus resurrects a widow’s only son during a funeral procession in the town of Nain. Moved by compassion for the grieving mother, He touches the bier and commands the young man to rise. The son is brought back to life, and fear and awe spread among the crowd, who glo- rify God, recognizing Jesus’ power over death. Luke 7:11-17 9. Calming the Storm : During a fierce storm on the Sea of Galilee, Jesus calms the wind and the raging waves with a simple command, “Peace, be still.” His authority over nature astonishes His disciples, leaving them in awe, questioning, “What manner of man is this! for he com- mandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.” Luke 8:22-25
10. Healing the Gerasene Demoniac : In the region of the Gerasenes, Jesus heals a man possessed by many demons named Legion. At Jesus’ command, the demons leave the man and enter a herd of pigs, which then rush down a steep bank into a lake and drown. The man is restored to his right mind, and the event amazes the locals, revealing Jesus’ power over demonic forces. Luke 8:26- 39 11. Healing a Woman with a Hemorrhage : A woman suffer- ing from bleeding for twelve years is instantly healed when she touches the edge of Jesus’ cloak, believing in His power to heal. Jesus stops, publicly acknowledges her healing, and says, “Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace,” attributing her healing to her faith. Luke 8:43-48 12. Raising of Jairus' Daughter : Jesus brings Jairus’ twelve- year-old daughter back to life after she had died. Taking her by the hand, He says, “Maid, arise,” and her spirit returns. This miracle demonstrates Jesus’ power over death and leaves her parents astonished, though He instructs them to tell no one what had happened. Luke 8:49-56 13. Feeding of the Five Thousand : Jesus miraculously feeds about five thousand men, plus women and children, with just five loaves and two fish. After blessing and breaking the food, it multiplies to satisfy ev- eryone, with twelve baskets of leftovers. This miracle demon- strates His divine provision and compassion for the crowd. Luke 9:10-17 14. Healing a Boy with an Evil Spirit : Jesus heals a boy af- flicted by a demon that His disciples were unable to cast out. With a rebuke, Jesus drives the spirit out, immediately restoring the boy to health. This miracle displays Jesus’ supreme authority over evil spirits and leaves the crowd in awe of God’s power. Luke 9:37-43 15. Healing of the Ten Lepers : Jesus heals ten lepers after they cry out for mercy. As they go to show themselves to the priests, they are cleansed. However, only one of them, a Samaritan, returns to thank Jesus and glorify God. Jesus highlights the importance of gratitude and faith, saying, “Thy faith hath made thee whole.” Luke 17:11-19 16. Healing of a Blind Beggar : Near Jericho, Jesus restores sight to a blind beggar who persistently cries out, “Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me!” Despite being rebuked by the crowd, the man’s faith leads to his healing. Jesus says, “Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee.” The man then follows Jesus, glorifying God, and all the people praise God for the miracle. Luke 18:35-43
