1. The Word Became Flesh: John 1:1-18 : John opens his Gospel with a philosoph- ical prologue, declaring Jesus as the Word Logos who became flesh, full of grace and truth, and existed from the beginning with God. 2. Testimony of John the Baptist: John 1:19-34 : John the Baptist bears witness about Jesus, announcing Him as the Lamb of God and testifying to His divine identity after baptizing Him. 3. Early Ministry and Signs: John 1:35-4:54 : Jesus calls His first disciples, per- forms His first miraculous sign by turning water into wine at the wedding in Cana, and initiates His ministry by preaching to a Samaritan woman at a well. 4. Salvation through Jesus: John 3:16 “For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] [a]only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life.” This famous scripture is the foundation of the Christian Church. Without a Saviour, we would not be Christians. Receive Him as Lord and Saviour today. Ask Him to come into your life and to clense you from sin. 5. Continuation of Jesus' Ministry: John 5:1-12:50 : Jesus' teachings, miraculous signs, and confrontations with the religious leaders continue. Notable events in- clude the healing of a man at the pool of Bethesda, the feeding of the 5000, walk- ing on water, raising Lazarus from the dead, and Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem. 6. The Bread of Life Discourse: John 6:22-59 : Following the feeding of the 5000, Jesus delivers a profound teaching known as the "Bread of Life Discourse". In it, He identifies Himself as the "Bread of Life" and explains the concept of spiritual
nourishment that comes from believing in Him. 7. Promise of the Holy Spirit: John 14-16 : In His final teachings to His disciples during the Last Supper, Jesus promises the coming of the Holy Spirit, whom He refers to as the Helper, Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor, and Counselor. This series of teachings includes profound insights about the relationship be- tween the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. 8. Jesus' High Priestly Prayer: John 17:1-26 : In what is often referred to as the 'High Priestly Prayer', Jesus prays for Himself, His disciples, and all future be- lievers. He prays for unity among believers, mirroring the unity between Himself and the Father, thus presenting a profound model of intercessory prayer. 9. Final Teachings and Passion: John 13:1-19:42 : Jesus gives His final teachings during the Last Supper, washes His disciples' feet, predicts His betrayal, offers a long intercessory prayer, and then undergoes His betrayal, arrest, trial, and crucifixion. 10. Resurrection and Ascension: John 20:1-21:25 : The empty tomb is discovered and Jesus appears to Mary Magdalene and His disciples. The Gospel ends with an epilogue containing additional resurrection appearances, including to Thomas and Peter, along with an affirmation of the purpose of John's Gospel.
1. Turning Water into Wine - John 2:1-11 : At a wedding in Cana, when the cele- bration runs out of wine, Jesus turns water into wine. This was His first public miracle, and it revealed His glory, leading His disciples to believe in Him 2. Healing the Official's Son - John 4:46-54 : Jesus heals a royal official's son in Capernaum. The official believes Jesus' word that his son will live, and when he returns home, he finds his son well, leading to his whole household believing in Jesus. 3. Healing at the Pool on the Sabbath - John 5:1-15 : Jesus heals a man at the Pool of Bethesda who had been invalid for 38 years. Jesus performs this miracle on the Sabbath, causing controversy with the Jewish religious leaders. 4. Feeding of the Five Thousand - John 6:1-15 : Jesus miraculously feeds a large crowd with five loaves of bread and two fish. This sign demonstrates Jesus' au- thority over nature and His compassion for the people. 5. Jesus Walks on Water - John 6:16-21 : After feeding the five thousand, Jesus walks on water towards His disciples' boat during a storm, demonstrating His divine power over the elements of nature.
6. Healing the Man Born Blind - John 9:1-12 : Jesus heals a man who was born blind by making mud with saliva, anointing the man's eyes, and instructing him to wash in the Pool of Siloam. This miracle demonstrates Jesus' power over physi- cal ailments and fulfills Old Testament prophecies of the Messiah giving sight to the blind. 7. Raising of Lazarus - John 11:1-44 In a profound display of His divine power and authority over life and death, Jesus resurrects Lazarus, who had been dead and entombed for four days. This miracle resulted in many Jews believing in Jesus, but it also led to the plot to kill Him. 8. The Miraculous Catch of Fish - John 21:1-14 : After His resurrection, Jesus ap- pears to seven of His disciples at the Sea of Galilee. He instructs them to cast their net on the right side of the boat, resulting in a miraculous catch of fish, demon- strating that the Lord was with them.
